Mexican Sushi?

Mexican Sushi is, apparently, a thing in Bell Gardens, California. It’s touted as an invention from Sinaola but it looks a lot like appropriation from Japan. While there’s no denying that the chefs making the so-called Mexican Sushi aren’t skilled, nor that the dishes themselves aren’t delicious, if not mostly rather unhealthy looking, the idea of Mexican Sushi itself is kind of abhorrent to me. I think it’s important to respect other cultures and I feel like this completely disgraces real Japanese sushi, which is considered an art that takes years of mastery and is deeply tied to Japanese identity, as seen below.
